Hudson Bay Company of Illinois provides door-to-door, phone canvassing services, as well as technical and data management to give you up to date analysis on how well your fundraising is going.

We conduct annual seminars for field managers, canvass directors and telephone directors. In addition, we hold national conferences for our phone and field canvassers every summer and winter which combine seminars on client issues with workshops on advanced fundraising skills.

Canvassing

Door To Door Canvasses:
We provide the hiring, training, and supervision of as many as 50 canvassers in an urban area who can each garner up to 10 new members an evening, generate calls and letters to public officials and tell your story in a direct, person-to-person manner unmatched by other sources of communication.

Telephone Canvasses:
We operate five telecommunication centers across the country specializing in membership renewal, fundraising, get-out-the-vote drives, voter identification and government contact and lobbying. We can get in touch with your membership as often as you like. We use the most advanced technologies available, which combined with a top-notch staff of nearly 150 committed activists, provides some of the highest, if not the highest, membership renewal and contribution levels in the country. We do not operate boiler rooms.
 

Overview:
Our greatest asset is the quality of our professional staff. Our canvassers are carefully selected, articulate, well paid and thoroughly educated (not simply “trained”) on your issues. We are often able to expand membership by conscientiously seeking referrals from present members, arranging list swaps with similar organizations and by occasionally calling carefully selected outside lists.

Dozens of our field and phone canvassers have gone on to staff and supervisory roles at many of America's leading advocacy organizations and dozens more have been elected to public office. One woman who served as a liaison between her office and one of our canvasses, was a member of President Clinton's cabinet and another was elected mayor of one of the country's largest cities.. Another canvasser became a U.S. Congresswoman.

In the 25 years since our founding we have raised close to $300 million for our client organizations and candidates, $50 million of it in the last three years.

Technical and Database Management

Our proprietary software enables us to provide you with a wide range of data on a regular basis and fulfill special requests on a timely basis, often in less than 24 hours.

We can produce everything from sophisticated analysis of our communications efforts to printing of mailing labels, including telephone number and address updating, data entry and duplicate removals.

We own and operate a mini-printing, automatic envelope stuffing and postage metering facility and do all the printing and mailing necessary to support a phone canvass including receipts, thank-you letters, educational materials, envelopes and mail-grams to public officials.
